Ashley Silvas has worked in the educational system since 2007. She was an elementary school teacher, in Calhoun County, for eight years, during which time she taught Kindergarten, 4
thand 5
thgrades. She has also worked as a school counselor at Hopkins elementary in VISD. Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities (English Literature) from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2006. She then completed her Master in Education (School Counseling) in 2013. In 2015, Ashley began her journey to continue her education in order to obtain her certificate to practice clinical counseling. She has completed the requirements for her certification as a Registered Play Therapist and is working on her Certified Clinical Sandtray Therapist-Trainer requirement. She is a LPC for the State of Texas (#77341). Ashley and her husband Roland have four wonderful children and are members of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Victoria, Texas.
B-23 Family: Where Relationship Comes to Life Many children/adolescents struggle to engage in healthy relationships in and outside of the family unit. Our disconnected society plays a role in lack of engagement. This workshop will focus on building core values in familial/healthy relationships. During the session, participants will learn how parenting/teaching style impacts relationship building, tricks to connect with children/adolescents in meaningful ways, and techniques to help instill responsibility through choice giving.
C-38 Suicide: Not so Silent Crisis Suicide is a word we continue to hear despite our efforts to prevent, guide, and understand those who feel like death is their only way to cope with the stressors that can come in this life. This workshop will guide participants through statistics, possible causes and effects of suicide, signs to look for, how to help, and ways to cope and move forward when a suicide does occur.
