The Spiritual Renewal Center is the realization of one of the principal goals set by the Diocese of Victoria since its inception on May 29, 1982. Groundbreaking for the Spiritual Renewal Center took place in April of 1987. Most buildings of the center were constructed out of cedar logs to be rustic in appearance. Building structures and surrounding landscape were designed to be rugged, inadvertent reminders of pioneering days and a slower paced lifestyle.
Due to South Texas weather conditions the original Chapel and some of the cabins were in need of reconstruction. The chapel was reconstructed, new sleeping quarters and a new multi-purpose building were completed in 2009.
Additions that are planned for the Spiritual Renewal Center include additional sleeping quarters; a grotto; and a Marian trail (where one prays the rosary as he/she reflects on the mysteries of the rosary).
