Request for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Diocese of Victoria in Texas

Those selected to be Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are to be fully initiated members of the Catholic Church, both male and female of sufficient age and maturity. Since a parish may also call on them to take Communion to the sick and homebound, they should possess the maturity necessary to minister in these situations. To serve in this capacity, faith is to be supported by visible signs. Therefore, qualifications to consider when selecting EMHC include: basic human wholeness, manifestation of Christian virtues, a positive sense of Church, a willingness to be formed in the ministry of the Church and an abiding reverence for the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. When necessary, EMHC must also be in compliance with the Safe Environment regulations of the Diocese of Victoria.
