Catechist Formation

Parish Catechetical Leaders, Catechists, aides and others involved in the faith formation of children in their home parish are invited and encouraged to participate in Catechist training and formation. 

Chapter IV of the new Directory for Catechesis states that the formation of catechists is a process that serves the transformation of a Christian who internalizes the message of the Gospel under the guidance of the Holy Spirit within the community of the Church (130-131). 

 The goal of catechist formation is to prepare missionary disciples as active participants in evangelization who communicate the riches and beauty of the Gospel by accompanying and educating believers in the faith (132).
