CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE DIOCESE OF VICTORIA TO THE 8TH GRADE BISHOP'S AWARD RECIPIENTS 2019
Congratulations to the 149 8th grade students throughout the Diocese of Victoria who completed the criteria to receive the Bishop’s Award. They received the prestigious Bishop’s Award on April 25, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory. These students earned this award by: learning 10 prayers by memory, scoring at least an 85% on the Diocesan Test of Christian Doctrine, completing at least 15 hours of service and fulfilling other criteria.
In his homily for the 8th grade Bishop's Awards, Bishop Cahill mentioned one of Pope Francis' letters that challenges us to live the gospel. He told the congregation and the students receiving the awards, "Dare to be different. Testify everyday to the beautiful in your life. You have hopefully come to realize that under everything God has created, is beauty. The people in your life are the most beautiful."
He also comended the students for their hard work and dedication, to learning more about their faith and reminded them to be grateful for their parents, teachers, and all who have been a part of "planting faith" in them.
