Celebrate the Jubilee
In the Diocese of Victoria, pilgrims are encouraged to visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory to receive a plenary indulgence during the Jubilee Year. It is the only church in the diocese designated as a pilgrimage site. If you plan to travel, consider visiting the website of the diocese you will visit to see other pilgrimage sites.
Pope Francis announced the availability of indulgences for the year, explaining, it would be "a way of discovering the unlimited nature of God's mercy." A plenary indulgence is a grace granted by the Church through the merits of Jesus Christ to remove temporal punishment due to sin. Conditions necessary for indulgences include:- Being in a state of grace and disposed to receive the indulgence
- Having confessed one’s sins sacramentally
- Receiving Holy Communion
- Offering prayers for the Holy Father and his intentions
- If able, make a pilgrimage to a designated Jubilee pilgrim site.
