(Marriage Preparation for Engaged Couples in the Diocese of Victoria in Texas)

What is Catholic Engaged Encounter?

The Catholic engaged Encounter (CEE) weekend is the preferred marriage preparation program of the Catholic Diocese of Victoria. It is recognized both nationally and internationally, as a quality and highly effective marriage preparation program designed to meet the needs of today's engaged couples. The CEE weekend is Catholic oriented; however, it is open to all, including those planning an interdenominational marriage. The weekend focuses on the following:

  • Communication Needs
    CEE introduces couples to a communication technique they can use effectively to foster a deeper knowledge of each other.
  • Spiritual Needs
    Each couple comes to realize that marriage is a sacrament and a vocation, and that God and prayer are essential to a fruitful marriage.
  • Personal Needs
    Each person is challenged to review the decision-making process and to examine the motives for seeking marriage.
  • What Happens At An Encounter?
    Presenting teams of married couples and a Catholic Priest who give a series of carefully prepared presentations. The teams believe that a commitment to marriage is serious and that marriage is a sacrament and should not be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but deliberately, and seriously.

The CEE weekend is an intense weekend of involvement during which each couple is offered the time and opportunity to question, examine, and deepen their relationship with each other and with God through personal reflection and couple dialogues. Couples are challenged to explore their relationship in a much deeper and more honest way than ever before.

Through a series of ideas presented by the team of married couples and a Catholic Priest, the engaged couple is stimulated to dialogue privately with each other on all aspects of married life - always from the viewpoint of their own lives.

The weekend begins on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. There will be hosting couples at the Spiritual Renewal Center for check-in beginning at 7:00 p.m. Complete housing (including separate cabins for men and women) and dining facilities are provided. There will be no meal served on Friday evening.

Reserving an Encounter Weekend

IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is required that you must meet with your parish priest before you may register for an encounter weekend. 

If you would like to register for a weekend please go to the registration form provided at the link below, print it, and follow the directions on the form. Since we have to have your cashier's check or money order in hand to confirm your intent to attend the weekend, we cannot offer online registration. Your registration is not confirmed until we receive your deposit.

To register for a weekend please print this form and fill out by typing or printing the information legibly.

Make your cashier's check or money order payable to:
"Engaged Encounter" for $210.00 (if wedding will occur within the Diocese of Victoria) $265 (for all other Dioceses).

Check which weekend is best for you, and make sure that you have a first and second choice selected. At certain times of the year weekends fill up fast, and your place on any weekend is not guaranteed until we receive your money and confirm with you. You may check here to see what weekends are still available and which have been filled.

You are encouraged to register as soon as possible in order to ensure your spot. We do have a waiting list if the weekend is full when you register. If you must cancel or move to another weekend, please do so early enough that the next couple on the waiting list may be allowed to make the weekend. Regarding Cancellations
No refund will be made unless a notice of cancellation or a request to reschedule is received at least seven (7) days prior to your scheduled weekend. There will be a fee of $45 charged in the event of any cancellation or rescheduling.
